Why we start everybody on a foundation programme
You can train hard for two or three years and look the same. Six weeks of learning how food actually works, with the food you already like, is where the change starts.
By Anish Menon
I’ve watched people train hard for two or three years and look exactly the same at the end of it. Not because they didn’t work. They worked. Nothing changed in the other 23 hours of the day, so nothing changed.
That’s why every new member at LIFTR starts on the 6 Week Challenge, whatever their goal. Not because it’s our best-selling programme. Because without it, the training is wasted.
The diet chart problem
Most trainers hand you a chart. Boiled chicken, broccoli, rice. Oats in the morning. Nobody asked whether you like broccoli. Nobody asked what your mother cooks on a Tuesday.
You follow it for two weeks, you hate it, you stop. Now you’re back where you were, with one extra belief: diets don’t work for me.
A chart you don’t understand is a chart you’ll abandon. And a chart built on food you don’t like is abandoned faster.
What we do instead
We teach you how it works. What calories are. What protein does. Why a deficit loses fat and a surplus builds muscle, and why the same strength training does both depending on what you eat (I wrote about that here). Nothing complicated. The science behind fat loss, muscle gain and maintenance fits in an hour, and once you have it you can’t un-have it.
Then we build your plan from the food you already eat. Dosa, dal, rice, roti, eggs, the biryani on Sunday. If you like it, it stays in. We adjust the amounts, not your life.
For six weeks you send a photo of every meal. The app counts it, your coach replies by the next morning with one specific thing to change. You weigh in every day. You hit a step target that moves with you. None of this is clever. It works because it’s checked, every day, by someone who knows your name.

The point is that you won’t need us
By week six you don’t need the chart and you don’t need the coach telling you what to do. You know what a good plate looks like. You know what to do when you’re eating out. You know what the number on the scale means on a Monday after a wedding.
That’s the whole idea. You’re self-sufficient outside the gym. You can teach it to your kids. Your spouse eats better because you do. The improvement spreads through the house.
A trainer who keeps you dependent on a chart has a client for as long as the chart lasts. We’d rather you understood it, because then you keep the results, and people who keep results keep training.
Why it’s fast
We’ve done this with thousands of people, so we know the shortest route from where you are to where you want to be. You don’t need to spend years finding out what actually works. We show you in six weeks.
Quick results and long-lasting results aren’t two different things. When the habit is the result, you get both. And when you see change, you don’t need motivating. You keep going because it’s working. That’s the cycle, and it’s a win for everyone.
What happens after
Most people stay on with us. The coaching gets lighter, the habits stay, and the training keeps getting harder because now it actually shows.
Train for two years without this and you get good at training. Do six weeks of this and you get a life that produces results. That’s the foundation. Everything else is built on it.
If you’re ready for the six weeks, apply here and our member experience team will call to set up your first meeting with a coach.
